Nauvoo Solutions is a consulting company founded and solely operated by Sophia Spencer since 2024. Nauvoo Solutions is certified as a Women Business Enterprise with the State of Oregon and focuses its work on supporting energy planning in the Pacific Northwest through data driven analysis and reporting. Sophia has supported a variety of demand side management planning assessments for both electric and natural gas utilities in the Pacific Northwest and continues to provide technical expertise for conservation, demand response, and rooftop solar photovoltaic potential assessments.

Sophia has a background in statistics and has over five years of experience developing data solutions for customers. Prior to starting Nauvoo Solutions, Sophia worked for Cadmus in the planning and assessment group. At Cadmus, Sophia developed and maintained the end-use energy efficiency potential model that was leveraged in conservation potential assessments for clients across the United States. The model was developed based on calibration to a service area forecast with calculations for technical, economic, and varying levels achievable or market potential. As a part of this model, Sophia is familiar with multiple different cost-effectiveness analysis methodologies.

Since founding Nauvoo Solutions, Sophia has collaborated with electric and natural gas providers as well as the Northwest Power and Conservation Council to better understand historical distributed energy resource adoption and plan for future energy demand. This work involves wrangling disparate data sources, analyzing trends, extracting insights, and summarizing findings in meaningful ways.

To be successful, Sophia uses the best data possible and follows the best modeling practices. In her time as a consultant, she has led and supported the development of multiple databases and modeling processes. She has extended experience working with highly sensitive data and auditing data for consistency. Furthermore, she has developed numerous reports in differing styles and structures to meet clients’ needs.
